Take a Virtual Trip with a Mazda Racecar

January 26th, 2015 by

This past weekend, Mazda participated in the first race of the year, the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Before the race, professional driver James Hinchcliffe took the wheel of the Mazda racecar prototype and gave us a glimpse of what it feels like to drive a racecar.

The Mazda SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY prototypes that participated in the race boasted 2.2-liter diesel engines with approximately 475 horsepower and a compound turbocharger that reaches an eye-popping 180,000 rpm.

Even models found in our new Mazda inventory can be found on the track. Mazda reports that its models are some of the most-raced production cars in the world, including the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda RX-8, and the Mazda RX-7.
